A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against Yash Dayal, a fast bowler for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on allegations of sexual exploitation under the pretense of marriage. The complaint was filed by a woman from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, who claims to have been in a five-year relationship with the cricketer. She has accused Dayal of emotional, physical, and mental abuse during their time together.
The woman initially reported her grievances on June 21 through the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's online grievance portal. Following a preliminary investigation, the police at the Indirapuram station formally registered the case on Monday. According to reports, Dayal is facing charges under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to sexual intercourse obtained through deceit or false promises of marriage, a crime that could result in a maximum sentence of ten years in prison, along with a fine.
In her allegations, the woman stated, 'He repeatedly engaged in physical relations with me under the false promise of marriage and introduced me to his family, who assured me that I would become their daughter-in-law. I committed to this relationship with complete honesty and dedication.'
She further expressed her distress, claiming, 'I attempted to take my own life multiple times due to the mental anguish, as he and his family continued to provide false reassurances. His involvement with other women caused me significant emotional trauma and shattered my well-being.'
The complainant detailed how the abuse led to her depression, for which she sought medical treatment. She recounted that their relationship began online and later progressed to in-person meetings in Prayagraj. Reports indicate that she visited Dayal's home and was acquainted with his family, although Dayal's father has reportedly denied knowing her.
